When applied to the skin it exerts a powerful osmotic action on living cells. It is a useful initial treatment for boils, carbuncles and whitlows. Magnoplasm Paste is a drawing paste containing glycerol and dried magnesium sulfate. The glycerol acts as a humectant which means it attracts water to itself and magnesium sulphate works via osmosis.
